Peter D. Byrne
Peter D. Byrne is an international tax lawyer based in Washington D.C. and Lima, Peru.
He is a 1986 graduate of Harvard Law School, and studied at Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia as a Fulbright Scholar. In addition to representing corporations such as Barrick Gold Corporation and individuals, he is an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown Law Center, and has advised the governments of Colombia, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Peru and others on tax reform.
From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Byrne was Deputy Director of the International Tax Program at Harvard Law School, and prior to that he was an attorney with the International Tax Counsel's office at the Treasury Department, where he participated in tax treaty negotiations with Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil and others, as well as numerous Tax Information Exchange Agreement negotiations.
Mr. Byrne is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. From 2000 to 2002 he was Co-Chair of the International Taxation Committee of the American Bar Association's International Section. Mr. Byrne is fluent in Spanish and has been listed as one of International Tax Review's "top U.S. tax advisers for Latin America."
