Alfredo Lewin, partner of the law firm LEWIN & WILLS based in Bogota (Colombia) obtained his law degree at Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá. He completed his postgraduate studies at Harvard University (International Tax Program and Master’s Degree in Law) being grant holder of Ford Foundation, AID and Fullbright. He also underwent studies on International Taxation at the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and studied Introduction to U.S. Law in Georgetown University.

His professional experience includes being the Head of the Tax Office in Bogotá, manager of Arthur Young and, for the last twenty five years at LEWIN & WILLS law firm, he has been tax advisor for major foreign clients, such as Shell, Exxon, British Petroleum, Chevron Petroleum, Nestle, British American Tobacco, Export Import Bank of Japan; as well as for national entities such as Ecopetrol, Carbones del Cerrejón, Empresa de Energía de Bogotá and Oleoducto Central de Colombia S.A.

A partner founder of LEWIN & WILLS in 1978, a law firm specialized in taxation, foreign investment, exchange law, foreign trade and international transactions.

Additionally he has been alternate judge of the Council of State, School Dean of Law at Universidad de Los Andes, professor and lecturer of Taxation Law, President of the Colombian Institute of Taxation Law, President of the International Fiscal Association (Colombian Section). He is author of works such as the “Tax Code and Foreign Investment in Colombia” and “Constitutional Principles of Taxation Law”.
